"Just a Thought "
Michael Behan is the founder of Just A Thought. He came up with the idea of "Just A Thought" about 5 years ago. Prior to this, he had spent 8 years facilitating groups for people with drug and alcohol addictions using the S.M.A.R.T (Self Management and Recovery Training) approach which he helped introduce into the prison system. He now gives wellbeing and motivational talks to businesses, charities and the prison service.
After studying the works of Eckhart Tolle he came to a realisation that the only reality was the present moment and that we are not our thoughts but the observer of them. This brought about a complete psychological change that transformed his life when he understood that we experience life from the inside out and not the outside in.
He realised through listening and studying Eckhart Tolle that it was our thoughts or thinking in the moment that created our feelings. Armed with these insights, he started sharing this understanding to businesses, charities, groups and individuals. He and employers soon began to see positive changes taking place among the attendees. Michael hopes that he can spread this message to help improve the wellbeing of anyone seeking a better way to live.
It is not only the service users who benefit from Michael's presentation. Charities need to also look after the wellbeing of their staff. He works towards getting the staff to realise that it is not the job that is causing stress but their thoughts about the job.
Michael is an approved sub contractor for G4S and N.O.M.s National Offenders Management Service and facilitates groups for prisoners in H.M.P. Birmingham Winson Green.
He is currently facilitating groups in dry houses for Lindale Recovery, Birmingham Mind and the prison service.
